Until a few years ago the average of a baby with autism was one out of every 150 live births, but currently it is one for every 100 births and the percentage is increasing with both the problem and solution unknown for what originates this disorder.

This was reported by Margarita Lopez Macías, a specialist in the care of children with autism who clarified that this disorder is a condition of life, not a disease, but will last the entire life of those affected.

As stated previously, the causes of autism, are unknown. According to the specialist, there are only hypotheses and those cases in which family issues coincide, but it is not proven. In addition, there are four boys per every female diagnosed with autism.

It is also known that it is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects four areas: communication; socialization; the interests, in this case the child’s activities are repetitive or restricted; and sensory integration. When these four conditions are detected, the autistic spectrum can be safely diagnosed in three levels, mild, moderate and severe.

There are some tests that allow the detection of the problem at three years of age, other tests do so before indicating various warning signs. Not so much to determine autism but to know if these behaviors are within the spectrum and if so, when and how to start the work necessary.
