Monterrey is shaping up to be a medical tourism capital worldwide due to the offer and potential for infrastructure, technology, and location.
This is stated by the director of the Corporation for the State Tourism Development (Coetur), Lorena de la Garza to publicize the sectorial plan of Medical Tourism, which highlighted the advantages of the entity in this area.
“Avant-garde technology, competitive prices, and personalized attention give us the conditions for Nuevo León to seek to position itself as a national leader in the medical tourism segment,” he said.
“Nuevo León has hosted important medical events, which has boosted the tourism of meetings, being this specialty the one that contributes the most to the industry at the state level. “Nuevo León stands out as one of the leading entities in Mexico in terms of medical services, we have in the state a public and private hospital infrastructure of the highest quality and professionals internationally recognized,” said Eduardo García Luna Martínez, president of the Specialized Medical Services Cluster Monterrey Ciudad de la Salud.
With a reduction in surgical procedure costs of 30 to 50 percent compared to hospitals in the United States, Nuevo León became a national leader in medical services.
And it is that according to the international consultants Patients Beyond Borders, Mexico has the fifth place in the countries most visited for surgical interventions, only below Costa Rica, India, Israel, and Malaysia.
